I checked again. No Henry Roy has ever lettered at FSU. That's not saying the guy wasn't a walk-on who never played but no one keeps track of those guys.
You're right about the need to embellish, especially since almost anything can be confirmed in less than five minutes on Google. We had a guy who was named the chairman of a big charity in our area. Said in his bio he lettered at a B12 school. Nope...and the charity got someone else.

Funny how just yesterday I was thinking this year's Darwin Awards would have to go the Time Magazine route, giving it to all the dead vaxx deniers.

Many many moons ago, my sister was dating a sleazy man who claimed to be a backup quarterback at Ohio State under Art Schlichter. I nipped that right in the bud with my ability to look that s*** up.

    Edit: pre-internet

A friend's ex-husband claimed he reached Triple-A with the Cardinals and hit a walkoff HR in a spring training game. I was skeptical. Then he said Jack Clark treated him like crap, so this was more believable because, you know, Clark was a prick. I spent some time trying to find it, but couldn't. I wasn't sure what year and spring training box scores weren't easily available. I gave up. He did have a Cardinals jersey mounted in a picture frame. I never found out for sure. I do know this guy was full of shit about other things, so it's possible he was full of shit on this.

Another really strong, almost stunning article, in The New Yorker, about the still-unvaccinated, and their nearly completely avoidable illnesses and deaths.

As almost every magazine folds or becomes a 15-page leaflet of a third grade reading level, The New Yorker every week has two really great stories.

French vaccine clinics were overrun the day after the speech where Macron announced this. If you are not vaccinated the only way to do these things to to be tested. He also announced that the free Covid tests were being discontinued at the end of August. Anyone tested after then would have to pay for the test.

The estimate is that there will still be about 10% who will refuse the vax.
