I was out to dinner with a good friend from HS on Friday night — he’s a doctor and was vaccinated in January. He’s always been fairly right leaning, mostly about economic issues (he does very well) with a dose of media bias and the left hates Israel thrown in. He mentions that his wife refuses to get vaccinated and I ask why. He says, “you know”. I say I don’t know and he responds “you know”. After 3 or 4 more times I drop it but it’s just insane that the wife of a doctor who can be exposed on daily basis refuses to get the shot.

We’re a month out from Lollapalooza and there are still no signs that it was a superspreader event. About 90 percent of the attendees were vaxxed.

The local daily had an obit last week for a 32-year-old man who died "of unknown causes." The obit notes that he and other family members made a "trip of a lifetime" to Sturgis for the Harley rally last month.

I don't. You can get all the data you want on the CDC website. They've been producing these nice weekly reviews for a while: COVID Data Tracker Weekly Review

I had the most tone deaf woman in the county in my line today.

Went back to mask mandate indoors a couple of weeks ago, even if you've been vaxxed. I give unmasked customers a friendly reminder if they make it as far as a register without one.

Most folks are cool. This one's response? "I can't breathe." What I would have given for an image of George Floyd to appear on my mask at that moment.

So I carried on with the order after reminding her it was a county directive and all I could think was, "enjoy the trip to Monterey."

Swingline, For your family and you, I'm so very sorry. The sympathy expressed here for your people is wonderful. Whether an allowed large gathering, or a truncated goodbye, note the moment of her passing and celebrate her life. Be well.
