Sitting at home enjoying your food stamps spreads COVID to no one. Going to work does ...

I could be in favor if they identify the unvaxxed, visit in person and still have them turn it down after the consequences are explained. That’s different from someone in severe poverty not having an opportunity to get the shot or being bad at filing paperwork.

But going to the store to buy the food...magical COVID shield.

It's indeed time to nip COVID vaccinations in the bud, and, though bold, I suspect Biden's tactic may work.

Not sure how a person using food stamps and Medicaid would not have the opportunity to get the shot.

You see where I'm going here. I'd argue it even more for all college students. That's 20 million people, you know, all of legal vax age. Have a federal student loan? Want to keep that? Get vaxxed. Of course, you start going after your nascent voting base, you're taking an electoral risk.

That's if you are sitting at home and not taking your unvaxxed ass out and about and interacting with others.

I don’t see what kind of gotcha you think you are going to spring here. Lots of us are in favor of everybody 12 and up that isn’t medically precluded taking the jab. Even if it makes people I am in a political coalition with unhappy, I still want it to happen. And it isn’t like getting and keeping government benefits is a frictionless process now.

GOP is threatening to sue over Biden forcing the issue. Biden: "Have at it."

Frictionless enough that 20 percent of the population collects from those programs.

I get that they are considered entitlements, but when you collect from one of those programs, you ostensiblity are reliant on others. IMO, it's not unreasonable for those others to stipulate the vaccine in return. If you don't like that condition, c'est la vie. You don't have to rely on others.

Sure. But the EO didn't cover college students. Or people drawing federal benefits.

You asked what I was in favor of and I answered accordingly. And many colleges, particularly those favored by the dreaded cools, already have mandates.

    Wouldn't bother me a bit.
If states can require recipients to pass periodic drug tests -- and it looks like some still do -- then the same principle can apply to vaccination. That principle is that the state shouldn't have to take care of people who won't take care of themselves and whose conduct may jeopardize others. (Of course, as the above link shows, states that eagerly drug-tested welfare recipients were bitterly disappointed that only a tiny fraction of those tested backed up the contemptuous presumptions that created the testing.)
You can't have it both ways. Accept state support? Fine. Act with the same public concern that makes your benefits possible.

This would also require Trumpists to face a terrible dilemma. While they love kicking anybody off the dole, they'd be retreating from Freedumb Hill to do it here.
