Fair enough. But him flat-out encouraging everyone to get the vaccine might have shut down some of his cultists.

I guess. But while he was anti-mask, he was always "pro vaccine." There was just NO VACCINE while he was president.

He was pro “Just let this be gone ASAP.” You couldn’t find someone more ill-prepared to think sacrifice and long-term picture if you tried. He thought electability was entirely dependent on people’s bank balances, and if those were up it gave him license to do whatever else he pleased.

Technically not true, the first vaccines rolled out in December 2020.

Also he pretty much hid the fact that he got vaccinated before leaving the White House. Had he gone on TV while receiving the shot and said "take it," his flock would've followed.

You're right about the collective action. The last time we had that was around 9/11.

As for a disease-control standpoint, Trump removed a lot of the top-level pandemic structure that Obama had built post-Ebola.

(You also know a lot more about this than me, so I'm shutting up now.)

    No, no he was not.
THIS is what "always pro vaccine" looks like.

918,000 Americans dead (and we all know the number is well above that in reality) from COVID-19 but the problem was the country was too locked down.

That's more than 9 Michigan Stadiums. Never mind that a vast majority of those who died with coronavirus weren't healthy enough to go to a college football game on a good day.

They were healthy enough to be alive to be able to decide whether to go to a college football game or not.

    Hold on a minute here:

That's the stuff we warned about when everyone was pro-lockdown.

You don't get to count the deaths that your policies may have caused.

And I think we all know how suspect the "COVID on death certificate" can be. If an autopsy showed Rasputin had COVID, that would be listed as cause of death. Just ignore the gunshot wounds, poisoning and attempted drowning.
