This song alone was worth the price of admission last night.

I'd never heard of these guys, this is terrific. What else can you point me to?

I caught wind of them by going through some of the album of the year lists last year. Their release, The Window, was generally praised as a top-five album by most lists and I really liked it. I'd start there.

    Ahem.

Four Phil tracks – though whoever edited out the drum fill heard 'round the world should have his headphones filled with shaving cream – and five Pete tracks, not to mention a deep Mike + The Mechanics cut (not one of their better ones, but I'm being picky)? Yes, please.

"Long Long Way To Go" (Pete and Sting helping with background vocals) and "I Don't Care Anymore" are nice deep cuts. And "Don't Give Up" is an underappreciated Pete offering.

And "Yello - Killshot" is really Pete's "Mercy Street."

Anybody know an industrial band from around 1990, maybe from New Orleans? I think they were a trio. The album cover had a weird guy sitting at a table in a club.

A brand new song, not an outtake or discarded demo, not generated or augmented by AI -- by Lennon/McCartney.

My take: it's kinda like medium-OK. Not great, but decent enough they ought to try some more.

It's not great, not awful. It has kinda the late-period Plastic Ono vocal sound Sean favors and also sounds like some of Wings' synth stuff. Now if only they can do something featuring some of Sean's alt-metal thrashing and maybe bring in Zak Starkey for some drum punch.

I'm 48. The Billy Joel 100th MSG special was a nice nostalgia trip to think about my mom and her influences on me. I've missed her tremendously for the last 18 years, more for what she would've thought of my daughter than me. Mom, thanks to Ticketmaster and an ice storm, got us second row tickets to Billy in the mid-90s, and it was a blast. I still know every word to "Scenes" and so many more.

Miss her so much, but this was nice. Goddam, I wish she could see her granddaughter living well in Brooklyn and studying musical theatre in NYC. Fuck.

    And fuck Type 1 diabetes.
