I *loved* WBRU when I was in Newport, R.I., at Officer Candidate School. First real college-ish station I'd gotten to listen. I know it's more than that, but the musical selection was great.

  2. Seriously, I didn't know they had broken up.

I've got almost nothing new to report. White Stripes never excited me, though I respect what they're doing, and Paul McCartney's schlock is getting worse. I liked Polyphonic Spree a little back in 03 when that stuff dropped; new album doesn't sound good to me.

The new Maps album sounds encouraging. Haven't really explored it yet.

I loved Coldplay's X&Y. Draw your own conclusions.

After a few listens, I'm still not sure what to think of "Icky Thump." The title track, though, is fantastic. What a riff.

Also, I finally picked up "Neon Bible." I loved "Funeral," but for whatever reason, I thought I'd be let down. Well, I'm a moron: Best album I've heard all year.

White Stripes is best album I've heard all year. It's so not what is usually on the radio.

Haven't heard what I'd call a weak track on "Icky Thump" yet. Will go back to seeking that black hole ...

In the last week, "Effect and Cause," "Icky Thump" and "You Don't Know What Love Is" are the only song playing on my car stereo. Just now ... I'm starting to grow tired of them. Just kidding. But, man, I love those three songs - especially "Effect...".

I really am digging the third song on the disc, "300 M.P.H. Torrential Outpour Blues."

Since I know you're all itching for the new T.I. album so you can go hustle it to the fiends on your local corner for some tax-free cash, here you go.

I've heard a few random songs by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros during the past year or so, and I've liked all of them, though I have no clue of their titles.

Anyways, I've been wanting to get an album of theirs and wondered if there was one in particular you guys thought would be best to pick up.

Get The Score. Not a bad song on it.

Don't know how many fans they have on this board, but Billboard.com is reporting that the Squirrel Nut Zippers are mulling over a reunion. Sounds like they're going to play some shows over the summer and take it from there.

I was a huge fan of these guys.

I've taken a break from listening to Sufjan Stevens's "For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti" on repeat -- damn, that song gives me a hard-on for the banjo -- to listen to The National's "Slow Show" forty-seven times in a row.

"You know I dreamed about you, for twenty-nine years before I saw you..."

Holy Christmas, I can't wait to drive through a rainstorm listening to that song.
