Spoon's new album, um, drops today.

From the samples I've heard on Amazon, it sounds like their best yet.

    EDIT: Interpol's new one, too.

Thanks for the reminder! I'm gonna pretend I'm 19 and get it on the first day. I freakin love this band, and I don't feel the same way about any other band that's anywhere near its peak.

    Also on sale today:
    -- Pumpkins' "Zeitgeist."
-- Foo's "The Colour and The Shape" 10th anniversary re-release, with some previously unreleased B-sides tossed into the mix.

"The Heinrich Maneuver" has me stoked to listen to Interpol's disc. Downloaded it already, but haven't had a chance to put on the headphones and critique it.

I liked that CD in high school, though I'm not sure it's worthy of an anniversary disc.

I'd say that about "Jagged Little Pill," too, but that also was re-released.

The timing happens to be good for me on the Foo disc, because I lost it over the years, and I knew I needed to replace it.

Today seems to be a good day for music releases.

Someone should tell Interpol to sue the Editors, since they're basically Interpol in new packaging.

Was not impressed at all with the Pumpkins' single.

Spoon's new stuff sounds pretty good, but it will have to be great to top Gimme Fiction. About six total A-list songs on that record.

I'm gonna get two of those records today -- Spoon, Interpol or the Pumpkins. SportsJournalists.commers, which two should I buy?

Interpol. Listen to Pumpkins on Net first. My bet is there's shit filler songs littered on that album.

I read a review that said as much...but apparantly, the songs on there that rock, really R-O-C-K

Listening to new Smashing Pumpkins songs right now at myspace. ... Not the same without Iha and D'Arcy - though you hear his signature guitar sound throughout.

And just listened to snippets of every song at itunes. Uggh. Take away Corgan's voice, and I hear Queens of the Stone Age everywhere.

I heard there was a big Queens of the Stone Age influence on the record...that's a big selling point in my book. OK, think I'll go with the Pumpkins and Interpol and buy the new Spoon next payday....

But that's my point: I love QOTSA. I don't want to hear another band that sounds like them, especially a band like Smashing Pumpkins, who have just two original members.
