The most recent Pernice Brothers album "Live a Little" is brilliant. My other favorite is "The World Won't End."

As for specific songs, try "Cruelty to Animals," "Somerville" and Grudge Fuck" from "Live a Little" and "7:30," "Working Girls" and "Flaming Wreck" from "The World Won't End."

"Cruelty to Animals" is #1 on my iPod's most played; "Flaming Wreck" is the ringtone on my cellphone.

Let me know what you think. I love these guys -- and they fit well alongside Uncle Tupelo and the Weakerthans.

I thought I had finally created the perfect "Panty Melt" playlist after two dozen or so tries.

Then I heard this song. Jesus. This dude is on the come up as a soul/R&B singer.

It's a zshare link so you can listen before downloading, if at all skeptical.

Weakest Shade of Blue and Dumb it Down are two of my personal favoites. But just invest some time and money into this band. NOW!!

Happened to be in a Borders bookstore last night and took a listen to the new Crowded House and also the new Suzanne Vega. Was impressed with both and I've never been a fan of Vega's, but it was influenced by New York. Very catchy stuff.

Weezy F. Baby has officially lost his mind. I guess this is what happens when you are on every imaginable drug at once.

I love Suzanne Vega's self-titled album and Solitude Standing, but just haven't been able to get into any of her other stuff. I've heard snippets of the new album, though, and a couple of the songs sounded good to me. I might need to check into this further.

I downloaded "Listen" a while ago and it's now my favorite Talib song.

Just downloaded the new Rilo Kiley album, and I have to say it's impressive. Very varied. Mix of rock, soul, folk. Very brave effort for a major label debut.

Not as good as Jenny Lewis' solo record, but a very good record none the less.

I listen to XMU as often as possible, and it seems like about half the time I dig a song, I'll check to see who sings it, and it turns out to be Voxtrot.
I'm definitely planning on buying/downloading their stuff one of these days.

Agreed, Herky. I've pulled down a few Voxtrot songs off Limewire (sshhhhhh!) simply because I heard their stuff on XMU and loved it.

I bought it Wednesday. It hasn't received very favorable reviews; some have even hinted "sell out" because of those varied sounds. But I agree, I think they took some chances here. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first but a few listens later and it's grown on me.
