The thing that's weird about the Celts is that they've just won a 7 game series and we know less about them then we did when they started. Usually, when a playoff series has such a home-road differential, there's at least one close game for the winner, but no. Also, most such series are won by older teams who get blown out on the road, then use superior poise and knowledge to win at home. That didn't happen, either, just the opposite.
Most mysterious.

And in regards to Bibby running his mouth before the series about the Boston fans, find me anything in his quote that wasn't true.
The whole "fair weather" fan thing? I've attended plenty of Celtics games during the past few years, including this season. Nothing different, except the product on the floor and harder-to-find tickets. I went to a meaningless Hawks-Celtics game at the end of last season and the place was damn near sold out and loud as heck. Bibby's statement is simply not true and is just ironic, considering Atlanta sports fans are known to be some of the worst in sports.

You seem to have forgotten that Mike Bibby has spent the last few seasons, including most of this one, in Sacramento. He's not being a hypocrite, merely an observer of the league-wide scene.

Step down out of the fanboy spot and take a look around more often.

Well maybe the "observer" can take note that Atlanta annually finishes near or in the bottom spot for home attendance, yet sold out their recent playoff games. Bandwagon fans, no?

Of course they're harder-to-find tickets. The Celtics ranked 20th among 30 teams in NBA attendance a year ago and 23rd in percentage of seats filled at home games.

Atlanta is the crappiest four-sport city in the country. Hands down. No argument with you there.

But Mike Bibby isn't native to Atlanta, and has been a Hawk only a few weeks.

You're not exactly objective on this, bostonbred, and your fanboy views have skewed more than one of your viewpoints. I didn't want to get into this, but since you insist on stringing this out ... well, there you have it.

Every city loves a winner and turns its back on a loser. That's just the way it is.

I don't turn my back on a Houston team, EVER. No matter how they might be playing at any given moment. I have NOT turned my back to the Rockets.

But maybe that is just me.

The hardcore fans always stay.

But the city as a whole is the bandwagon. There is little Lakers buzz when they're not contending.

I have to say I'm not sure that Houston as a whole is a "bandwagon" town. AA might disagree with me on that, but as a whole, I really think we love our teams through thick & thin.

And the Hawks were 26th in attendance and 29th in percentage...

There was pretty much no reason to go to the Garden last season. Pierce was out for most of the season and it was basically a bunch of unfamiliar scrubs (minus Al Jeff) like Michael Olowokandi, Brian Scalabrine, Sabastian Telfair, and Gerald Green. With so many sports options in New England, I'm surprised that attendance figure wasn't even lower. Especially with the harmful tanking allegations, which alienated a sizable amount of the diehard fanbase.

"Diehard fanbase"? You mean the "fanbase" that only gives a shirt when the Celtics are good? Boston is home to the most fair-weather fan base in professional sports. "fork 'em" when they lose and "I knew we could do it!" when they win.

If you're looking for diehard fans, check out that list. You'll see Sacramento filled 100 percent of its seats last year for a team that went 33-49.

I'm guessing that had something to do with Bibby's comment.
