Another bad Spurs third quarter in New Orleans. Nice little 17-4 run for the Hornets.

I don't understand it. It's like SA can't play in NO in the third quarter.

All the stuff they do for the first 24 minutes, they quit doing. They stand and watch on offense, and they don't close out on shooters on defense.

    Duncan looks really bad.

Never seen San Antonio Jekyll-and-Hyde this badly before.

Why would the Spurs change their defense from what won Games 3 and 4 to what lost Games 1 and 2? Instead of letting Paul do whatever he wants and double-teaming West, they're doing the exact opposite. Meanwhile, Morris Peterson has fired unencumbered from deep all night.

It's a final, Hornets win 101-79. Home teams now, what, 17-1 in second-round games?

    Something like that. It's insane.

Parker's gotta shoot more than 14 times for the Spurs to win. It's so strange how San Antonio could lead at halftime in all three games it's lost, three games it's lost by 18, 19, and 22.

And why Ime Udoka continues to get fourth-quarter minutes is beyond comprehension.

Oh God no, no dynasty. It's actually a huge failure that they're not. They've been to six straight conf finals and they probably shouldve been to at least four Finals and won probably two or three times. The attitude and ridiculous nonchalant behavior has quite a bit to do with that.
Plus, they're just simply not as good as advertised anymore -- those first two years they were in the Finals they were the real deal, but things have gradually deteriorated.
That said, six straight isn't anything to shake a stick at.

I don't think anyone here has called them a dynasty. But it's still a darn good run.

Udoka, when hot, is a pretty good three-point shooter. He can play some defense, but he's in there to spell Finley and to hit some threes.

Yep, 71-48 in the postseason since '02. And counting.

The Spurs signed him to be Bowen's understudy, although most NBA understudies aren't 30 already.

He plays above average defense, and, you're right, he can hit a few threes now and then. But, he takes too many rushed threes and doesn't have a great sense of court presence. He'll never be a dangerous three-point threat because of his awkward shot.

I'll take my chances with Finley and Bowen.

Yeah, that's true. I just think they get a little more credit they deserve. The East has been weak over those six years and they've kept the same core together. I just feel like people talk about them as a championship caliber team and they've only won 1, which was what five years ago?

Well, Boobie, not to poke at coals here or agree with those who call them championship caliber ... but people have also been calling Boston a championship caliber team this year and all they've done is go 6-5 in the playoffs thus far.
