NBA Playoffs 2012 Running thread

If Miami had that much trouble with Boston, I don't see how they are going to handle OKC.

They'll have a somewhat-fluid Bosh for an entire series, instead of a rusty one for half a series.

you stay classy, L'Bron

Was there supposed to be something there? All I saw was the same silly chalk thingy he did for 7 years in Cleveland.

To me, even though it was not a statistically amazing performance, James stepping up in the fourth quarter, when the game was tied, and turning it on to push the lead to 10 is more impressive than him scoring 45 but vanishing in the fourth quarter.

And Wade comes off as such a brick.
You actually believe he disappeared in the 4 th quarter in game 6? You really are Skip Bayless.

Just a reminder that according to 93/Skip it is obvious -- and has been for quite some time -- the Heat isn't good enough to win.

What in the heck point are you trying to make Devil, what does a football thread have to do with the ridiculous claim that you would have traded Lebron James 25 games into his Heat career?

That I made a comment, which a lot of you think is wrong and are still railing me over, that has not played out yet - just like the Eli and Giant comments which a lot of people were so freaking wrong about, but we don't pull those old posts up.

When Bosh, James and Wade were formed, if I would have posted that success for this group would have been losing a couple NBA Finals, this place would have gone off the rails once again. Now they might win it all this year, but I think it was obvious early in the formation of this group, that they were not good enough to win an NBA title. Last year they had a less than dominant foe in the Finals and could not pull a win off. This year it seems like they will not get a really strong team to go against them until the Finals, if they make it that far. If they do not win it this year, there chance of winning it all becomes less and less each year as James and Wade age and Durant and Westbrook mature.

They still have not won it.
Trade him

I will say that Game 7, I actually respected Bosh's game. That's fairly uncommon. He stepped up, and I give him credit.

I agree that Wade has become eminently unlikeable since LBJ came to town. The dual presser was painful to watch, Wade drumming his fingers and then going stonefaced when LeBron mentioned Wade's struggles in the Indiana series. To me, they had a TERRIBLE vibe together. If you can't pull it together and pretend to be buddy-buddy for 15 minutes after winning a series -- and no, both wearing Urkel glasses doesn't count as anything but paralysis on how to look like more of a tool than Amare -- that shows a serious and fundamental flaw in Miami.

Also, Spoelstra...ugh. I loved Wojnarowski's line about him reciting motivational speeches from a Riley book. He lacks the gravitas to handle all these egos. Does anyone really see him as a championship coach? If the Heat win -- and with that much top-flight talent it's certainly possible -- doesn't he become one of the worst coaches ever to win a title?

It definitely feels to me like if the Heat win the title it will be more in spite of Spoelstra rather than what he did to contribute to them winning it.

NBA is going to have to decide whether Thunder are the Sonics -- they pitched it as Sonics name and colors are waiting for them in Seattle, yet I just saw a stat that Durant is third player in franchise history with 30-10-5 playoff game, joining X-Man and Payton.

Also: "Steve. Don't come yet." Best sports cameo EVAH!

According to the deals reached with the Thunder owners, the city of Seattle and the NBA, the Thunder are the Sonics -- they get the team history and all that comes with it. The banners, trophies and such are all still kept in Seattle, but OKC can borrow them to display or copy. Also, Bennett still owns the rights to the name "Seattle Supersonics" and the team colors, but when Seattle gets a new team, he'll hand them over free of charge.

Here's where it gets confusing: The NBA agreed to let the Thunder keep the history -- stats, awards, etc. -- of the Sonics. But if a new team ends up in Seattle, then that team would share that history. So two teams could be drawing from the same background.

For now, though, it's all Oklahoma City's, whether anyone likes it or not.

Thanks for clarifying. By the way, is it considered a foregone conclusion Seattle IS going to get another team? Y'all are making it sound inevitable.

I can't believe how many people think Boston is just some nice little team who Miami should have rolled over.

Paul Pierce is a Hall of Famer. Ditto Kevin Garnett. Ray Allen probably is as well and Rajon Rondo will be when he is done if he continues to play the way he has - and Doc Rivers is probably the best coach in the game right now.

Boston is an ecxellent basketball team that is veteran and knows how to win.

Except for Game 6 and 7 up 3-2.

Guess the Spurs suck, too. Cause all that matters is what happened in your last game.

It's all but inevitable Seattle will become the 31st team in the NBA. The java slurpers learned their lesson by being punked by an Oklahoma oil baron and won't be caught with their wallet clenched. If that means bending over and funding a new gee-whiz-bang barn, so be it.
