I don't know if it's the influence of The White Stripes or what, but there seem to be a lot of good, loud two pieces lately: Royal Blood, The Black Keys, Death From Above 1979, Japandroids... Not complaining. They're all pretty great. Just observing.

Earliest two piece I can remember were The Inbreds. Great 90s Canadian band.

Not sure if they predate Local H, now that I think of it.

A two piece from 1987: House of Freaks. These guys were really good. I saw them open for Midnight Oil back when this came out.

Terrible side note to this: Bryan Harvey, the singer and guitarist, was murdered along with his wife and two young daughters during a random crime spree in 2006. The Drive-By Truckers song "Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife" is about them.

The new Japandroids record is excellent. In heavy rotation for me right now.

Liked some stuff I heard a while back. Been off my radar, though. They put out anything new?

They released an album in 2016.
Not their best work, but still very good.

    How about Joan Shelley?
A selection from NPR's Tiny Desk series:

More evidence of the death of guitar music.

She's no Joan Baez, but at least tolerable, and that's more than I can for most post-2000 music.
