Trailer out for his new HBO show on cable news. Looks like it borrows heavily from the Studio 60/Network tv-personality-tell-it-like-it-is plot.

Jeff Daniels is one of those guys who is great in just about everything he appears in. And that that includes Dumb and Dumber says something.

Borrows heavily from Studio 60? Looks like it's the exact same thing, only on a news show instead of a sketch comedy show.

Still a lot of potential there. I'm interested to see how much Sorkin uses being on HBO instead of network TV to his advantage. Definitely will watch, but won't be surprised if it suffers from the same problems that bogged down Studio 60.

Cocaine futures are soaring on the news that he's developed a new show.

The most consistent criticism I recall here about "Studio 60" was its setting was a comedy show that wasn't ... funny.

When cable news gives us comedy, it's usually unintentional.

Yep. And whatever major story arc he had intended jumped the rails when Amanda Peet got pregnant. That development completely ate the show's brain.
