The Star News is looking for freelance news and sports writers

This weekly community newspaper, located in the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities, is looking for a sports reporter and news reporters.

The sports reporter will assist with the coverage of high school sports on nights and weekends in Elk River, Rogers, Otsego and/or Zimmerman. This person will be skilled at interviewing prep athletes and coaches, covering games and writing sports features as well as capturing action photographically.

The news reporters we need cover governmental meetings and/or write feature stories and take photographs and/or video.

The most qualified candidates will have a journalism background and previous writing experience.

The Star News pays many of their reporters on a freelance basis through independent contracts, and they would like to add to its cadre of writers. Interested applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and clips to Jim Boyle at editor.erstarnews@ecm-inc.com.
