For a "must win or I get fired", i would take all three over Peyton.

Dunno about that rationale. Do we knock Montana down the list of greats because he had Rice, Taylor, Clark and Craig? I think there are several quarterbacks ahead of Manning on the all-time list, but he ain't down there with Jack Concannon or somesuch. Then there's the example of the Broncos turning just about any bum into a 1,000-yard rusher. Manning's system probably made Wayne, Clark and Garcon a bit better than they would have been with another QB.

Favre ducked out of six different home losses i covered, starting in 1998 with the "Moss Loss" on MNF.

Jesus Fucking Christ, people. Joe Montana was a Super Bowl winner BEFORE Rice, Taylor or Craig were in the NFL. And unlike Manning, he won multiple titles with the aforementioned talent. Do some of you even watch football? Fuck!

By the way, Reggie Wayne, in his 12th year, just had the second-best season of his career.

But he didn't spend only one or two years with those guys, Mr. Apparently Peter King and Dr. Z Wrapped Into One, and he won only one without Craig. The point is, you can't treat Montana and Manning differently as far as supporting cast.

Do I think Manning is as good as Montana? No. Do I think Manning is a Hall of Fame quarterback? Yes.

I would hope nobody in the world thinks Peyton Manning is as good as Joe Montana.

But the question is, is Manning as good as (or better than) Tom Brady?

I say no way. In addition to their playoff differences, Brady has always thrown a way better deep ball, even before Manning's injury.

How 'bout that every QB being discussed in this thread is pretty fucking good? We're splitting hairs here.

No shit, dooley. NOBODY ever said he wasn't a Hall of Famer. That was never the question. And Montana already had won twice as many Super Bowls before Rice joined the team. Also, Craig was a very good player, but he's not a Hall of Famer. Neither are Ricky Patton, Earl Cooper or Johnny Davis, the vaunted three-headed rushing attack that played such a huge role in helping Montana win his first title.

I can do this all day.

Ya, why would sports journalists want to make such meaningless distinctions?

I understand the bitterness, but picking apart the teams that just lost is part of the discussion as well. Plus, it's an SportsJournalists.com thread. They tend to go all over the place.
