... or can him before he left the field like ASU did to Herm, leaving him to fly home commercial.

For all the $$ that the teams have available to them for planning/coaching that’s the e execution that results?? Just awful.

Remember how Obama's mantra was "don't do stupid shit"? That was pretty much Belichick's coaching mantra, too. It is amazing how few NFL teams embrace this simple philosophy. I am convinced that the NFL team with the worst roster (Pats are certainly a contender, they don't have anyone as good as Bowers or Crosby), could manage to go an entire year with less than one turnover a game and were among the top three least penalized teams, they'd win 8 games at a minimum.

I was a Pats hater but really respected them when I saw Belichick’s saying/mantra “just do your job”. Applies to my team and firm.

Several of the stories on the Eberflus firing say it is the first time the Bears have ever fired a coach during a season. In many ways that's kind of amazing.

Big Bret would like a word, though he was able to drive home.

I heard a pretty good case for not firing a coach midseason no matter how bad things get from a mid-major D-I AD one year. His MBB team won ONE game and the HC was clearly checked out and long past his prime, but the AD said something along the lines of, look, a firing would just be cosmetic. The kids have enough going on without swapping out coaches and bringing in someone who probably won't get the F/T gig. Barring something scandalous, he can complete his contract as we begin to look for his replacement. It makes sense in a vacuum. But a.) this is a professional franchise we're talking about, players can handle a coach getting poopcanned and b.) going 100 years as one of the league's most meh franchises and never firing someone until the guy crapped down his leg for millions to see on national TV is too far in the other direction.

Felt bad for the Raiders center, Amazon made it seem like it was his screw-up, and it wasn't. You get the tap from the guard on a silent count and that means hike it whenever.

So the Raiders actually spiked the ball at 30 seconds... only to try one more play - not to advance the ball for a better fg attempt, but to kill some time off the clock, which could have been completed by merely not spiking the ball so soon.

The sideline incompetence is truly astounding.

Hasn’t been a good week for end-of-game clock management by NFL coaches.
