Keenum played 59 games. Comparing his passer rating to Manning's over 234 games is fucking stupid.

And, sorry, you don't "luck" your way into two Super Bowl titles. The Giants won eight playoff games, including five road playoff wins and two neutral site victories to win their titles. They made plays and beat every team they faced, including arguably the best team in NFL history. Nothing lucky about that.

If someone wants to make an argument that Manning won't or shouldn't get into the HoF, that's fine. Make an argument better than "if not for one play he wouldn't get in." Because if that's the argument you're making, you're being lazy, ignorant or both.

Tyree play was not luck? The Giants defense has nothing to do with St. Eli winning two rings? You’d think a hall of famer would have done more in the other 14 years with that team.

he may not get in but he deserves to get in. But that’s left to the judgment of bitchy and bitter men.
Manning played with no HOFers. Best receivers were Plaxico who was good, Amani Toomer who is the definition of good but no more, Shockey for a couple of years who was more reputation and injuries than statistics , and Tiki Barber who talked his way out of a good reputation. OBJ may get in but not on the strength of a couple of seasons with Manning. No offensive lineman was AllPro let alone HOF.
Eli’s top 10 in attempts, completions, yardage and TD passes, albeit in a “juiced ball” era. Played 16 straight years and Never missed a start, scratched once by an idiot coach. Won 2 SB MVPs. Bear Favre in Green Bay in one of the 3 coldest games in NFL history then beat the undefeated Pats. And beat them again. His 2 4 game playoff runs had only 1 home game. He played in an era of great QBs, Brady, Rogers, Brees, Favre, Rivers Rothlisberger Peyton and only Brady has more rings.

He should have retired 2 years ago. He can’t throw long anymore with any strength or accuracy. Short arms easy throws, can’t lead a receiver on a 10 year slant from the slot and Checks down after looking away from his primary target. He looks bad now. But he had a HOF career. If he’s not in then make the case that Rivers and Rothlisberger are that much better. That the difference between HOF and not is the difference between them. They had better supporting offensive teams. Rivers played in and lost his only conference championship game and wasn’t good. Eli led the league 3 times in INTs, Rivers and Rothlisberger , twice each. Rothlisberger had much better teams. Ben has the same amount of yards and TDs and more rapes and whining bitchiness.

Eli isn’t going to be on the Mt Rushmore of QBs, but for 16 years he started and played in a very tough market with zero drama, 2 Super Bowls and top 10 stats. That’s a HOF career.

Correction. Chris Snee made All Pro as guard in 2008. Eli’s only All Pro offensive team mate

Watch out, your last two sentences are proving my point. The arguments for and against Manning's HoF credentials go well beyond David Tyree.

Absolutely the Giants defense had a lot to do with those SB victories (Tuck could have been SBMVP in 2007, for instance). Of course, their offensive line has had a lot to do with the team's failures, too. It's a team sport, and I have no problem if someone wants to give credit to the defense for helping win those games. But you also have to give Manning credit for making big plays at nut cutting time, not just in the Super Bowl, but in their other playoff victories as well. You also have to acknowledge the myriad reasons beyond Manning why the team wasn't more successful in other seasons.

The Tyree play was not luck. There wasn't some random deflection, some blown coverage that allowed that play to be made. Manning escaped a hellacious rush and kept the play alive. Tyree went up and made a play over one hell of a good defender. He did whatever he could pull that ball down. He fought for it. That wasn't luck. That was grit and desire.

  9. Cross off Seattle and uncross Dallas and I think you are right.

It's not that Tyree was lucky. It's that Manning was lucky. He threw a prayer into coverage and Tyree turned it into a completion with a spectacular effort.

Also, the escape was overrated. Every defender who got close to Manning on that play was engaged by a blocker. One guy got a hand on him, but nothing more. It was particularly surprising because Manning doesn't escape the rush well. Roethlisberger escapes a rush like that 10 times a game.

  11. Chicago is not very good. Good defensive front. No offense.

I won't be around to collect or pay off in 2057. Moot point. Also, by then there will have been 38 more seasons with correspondingly so many more HoF candidates.
