NFL Wild Card Weekend -- Nazareth, live from Philadelphia

If he doesn't get greedy or stupid, Trubisky has a job in Buffalo as long as he wants. He's the perfect backup QB and he can earn another $10 million and five years on his pension and not get the crap beat out of him.
It's true, although I'd wager there's a 70 percent chance that he would have to put in some significant time for an Allen injury sometime in the next five years.

Crossthread to the complaining about the college football playoffs early rounds, but the wildcard weekend at the moment isn't for close games.

Last year all but one game was two scores or more and all top seeds won but one (funny enough that one, the seventh-seeded Packers, was one that won by two scores).

Every game after that was decided by a score or less, outside of the Ravens killing the Texans.

Or the Steelers or the Chargers? Every game has been a carbon copy so far. Other than the Texans scoring some really fun times yesterday.

There is obviously a huge talent gap between the top of the AFC and the rest as well.

This sort of dovetails with the QB discussion. It's not fair to talk about Nix as a finished product or to declare Herbert a FRAUD, but they've got so far to go to reach the Allen-Mahomes-Jackson level that is likely going to be required in order to reach a Super Bowl out of the AFC this decade.

My beef isn't with Herbert, but with those who seem to prematurely declare a guy an HOFer or a bust based on their most recent game There is no "in between." Mayfield is on his fourth team and in the playoffs. Goff is enjoying a bye week, Darnold plays tomorrow night. The Browns weren't the only team willing to trade for Watson during his legal issues. While some QBs start hot and level off, others start slow or are surrounded by a crap team. That's all I meant about the Herbert discussion. American Media has no memory beyond the last week.

Past 10 wild-card playoff games: Average margin 17.9 points. One of them decided by ≤ 8 points.
And now the Eagles, who kicked off to start the game, already have a 7-0 lead and possession again less than three minutes in.

I am a fan of an AFC team (God knows why at this point) but I have never shaken my 80s childhood impression that the NFC represents Big Time Football and the AFC is just kinda there. Even this Eagles game feels 10x more intense to me than any game to date this weekend.

The AFC is 17-10 in Super Bowls since the Broncos broke the streak in 1997 :)
