When Hasek flops around, he knows exactly what he's doing. The guy never gives up on a puck. When you see him live you realise how technically superb he is--he's rarely out of position. And he started doing little things that goalies hadn't done before. If the puck's lying around in his crease, instead of trying to smother it with his cumbersome trapper, he drops his stock and grabs the damn thing with his blocker.

Hasek has also won a Stanley Cup. And an Olympic gold medal. .

You might not like his style but he's probably one of the best goalies of the last 25 years. Marty Brodeur, IMO is still the best goalie around.

That I have to agree with. May he shatter every record Patrick Roy holds.

None whatsoever. Especially after his behaviour at the Memorial Cup. It was atrocious.

I agree it was egregious but given his cockiness during his career, are you surprised?

No, but you don't call out kids half your age ... classless.

Brodeur is definitely one of the best goalies out there today, but Cam Ward did win the Cup this year and even beat one of his idols (Brodeur) in the playoffs.

Hasek isn't going to lead the Wings back to a Cup.

Cam Ward had a remarkable playoff run but we'll see how he makes out in the next 10-15 years to see if you can compare him to Marty.

I won't compare him to Marty. Dude, Devils are my freakin' team and being a Devils fan, my biggest concern is the defense in front of Brodeur. He makes unbelieveable saves and his work ethic is amazing, but Marty is going to need some help in front of him -- losing Stevens, Niedermayer were huge losses. I hope for Brodeur's sake that the defense in front is shored up soon. Hear me, Lou?

I need to be sure I understand here.  Hasek should have abandoned a style of play that earned him six Vezinas, two Harts, and a Stanley Cup, just so he'd be accepted by people that prefer he play pure hockey, whatever that is?

Debates over who the better player was aside, how is Hasek different from guys like Orr or Gretzky, guys that played their position unlike anybody ever had, and guys that were head and shoulders above anybody they played with?

Flash has been drinking. It's the only logical explanation.

Can someone fill me in on what Roy did at the Memorial Cup? I've never liked him.....
