No Idiots Allowed Fantasy League

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by 21, Mar 24, 2005.

  1. I made this suggestion to a manager 3 or 4 weeks ago and was going to post it here at the end of the season.

Take two, three or four teams from the baseball NIAFL2 into the NIAFL1 each year.  This would help your league by making the lower places in the standings worth fighting out of and ensuring the most active and best managers top to bottom.

The NIAFL2 grew out of HockeyBeat's league started three years ago.  There are some very good managers in this league.  The Commishioner is fair and handles any issues well. Though his team did not finish well this year, he is usually near the top.  The manager of the team Sterling Silver is one of the best managers I have seen in several different fantasy leagues.  Both are well-respected posters here.

Well, in about 11 of the 14 days, the score was much closer. Congrats to the Dog on a good battle.

And Mr. Labia, we're far too wise to the ways of Sterling Silver.

Won't happen. Being invited to the NIA is a privilege, not a right.

And more than one person would veto Sterling's inclusion.

  4. I am just suggesting that it would improve quality in both leagues, especially over time. Open fullly competive league or a clubby, invitational. As far as "Sterling's ways", if the league members are wise to them, then they should be able to handle them, right?

Why it would it do any of that? We all compete pretty hard, and have pretty much elimated any of the bullshit that can occur in other leagues. We all get along well, even if some of the members no longer post here anymore. Not sure any of us 12 want to change a thing, except our places in the standings.

The NIA is already quality top to bottom. Active and competitive all the way through. And, more importantly, people who get along with each and everyone in the league.

There is only one NIAFL. Any others are just a ripoff of the name.

But we're happy with the quaility of our league already.  Other than past week the membership comes to play week in and week out.
This is how busing came about in South Boston - you had one group that was perefectly happy with their schools and another that was not.

Why? You don't like getting e-mails offering Dave Roberts for David Ortiz?  ::)

But Roberts is coming off a .425 hitting month where he had 18 homers and 22 RBIs. He's due to keep that going.

Ortiz hit his high point in June.

I'm just trying to give you a way to keep your team competitive. This trade definitely benefits both teams. You need the steals and I need the RBIs.

And as a further note, Mr. Silver happens to be one of my favorite people on the board. I just don't wanna be in a fantasy league with him.

  11. Classic. But the quality and competitive edge top to bottom would increase.

Yes, I know Ortiz is in a stacked lineup, but you have to figure that teams will pitch around him to get to Manny. Roberts hits leadoff for San Diego. They can't pitch around him. [/sterling]
