    Which pitchers hold the record for most wins before the All Star Break? Hint: 18 in the AL and 16 in the NL.

    Denny McClain. Carl Hubbel?

    McClain had the tied the record at one point, but it was broken twice including once by his former teammate, Mickey Lolich, who got it to 17.

    My original guess was going to be Vida Blue in 1971, but not sure he got to 18.

    He got to 17 as well…actually did it before lolich….you are in the right era for pitchers.

    The only other guy I can think of who started a season that hot is Gaylord perry with the Indians one year.

    Only one person made the final out of a World Series and went on to lead the franchise that won the World Series in which he made the last out to another World Series title. Can you name him? (Yes, I know, not too hard to look up...)
