Well, I appreciate you sharing. Get through this and remember all the great things about her. Say her name out loud every day because as long as you keep her in your memory, she lives in you.

Sorry to derail the thread. Back to offseason baseball.

Justin, my sincere condolences. I spent the weekend before last going to the sites my parents wished their ashes to be spread (none near Mass.). It was a wrenching experience even though my Mom died last December and my Dad in 2013. The consolation was in fulfilling their wish. Cold consolation, but better than none.

I get your thinking. I went back and forth for a while before posting about my mother's death last year. In the end, I remembered that writing about stuff is part of how I cope and most of the people here are decent human beings who will either be supportive or keep quiet. If the folks here can be supportive of an asshole like me during a time of great personal loss, you will do just fine.

I hope sharing helps, even if only a little.

    Justin, sorry for your loss.

I saw your FB post awhile back. Wasn't aware of the details, but thought it sounded kind of sudden and unexpected.

Condolences. Hope to see you again in July.

Braves expected to hire Alex Anthopoulos as GM.

I know we've got a few Blue Jays fans on here, so ... thoughts?

(I'm ecstatic, all things considered. Should I be?)

Boston fan here. From the outside, he seemed to do a credible, OK job. Like, it's not easy to compete in the East when you have Boston and New York, and Baltimore isn't shy about spending either.

He was revered here because he was Canadian - spoke French at the press conferences! - and seemed to be great with the media. Made some great moves (Donaldson for Lawrie has to among the greatest trades in franchise history), Estrada for Lind, Anthony Gose - last seen trying to reinvent himself in the deep minors as a reliever for the Tigers - for Devon Travis who would be a cornerstone at 2B if he could only stay healthy. I had no issue with the Price trade.

But he had some huge whiffs, notably the Dickey trade which cost the Jays Noah Syndergaard (apparently the Mets wanted Aaron Sanchez). His huge trade with the Marlins did get Buerhle but that was about it - although he did flip Reyes for Tulowitzki. which was certainly big in the seasons they went to the playoffs. Got little useful in the Halladay trade. Signing Russell Martin as a free agent also worked out, it didn't hurt that Martin is another Canuckistani, but if he hadn't swapped Yan Gomes for Esmil Rogers he wouldn't have needed to go out and upgrade at catcher (which is becoming a glaring weakness as Martin ages).

Even those whiffs were mostly defensible at the time and now, though.
