Overused important words that lose their impact

Precisely. It's important words that lose their impact. If you say you love cheesecake or 70-degree days or finding corn on sale, or you love the person you're with...if you say it all the time, as an afterthought, it starts to feel rote instead of meaning something. And it becomes a habit, instead of something you believe with all of your heart and soul.

    As it should be.

IJAG, that was actually going to be my answer. I just can't believe it took three pages for someone to say it.

And believe it or not, a word that's lost a bit of its impact through overuse: hate.

Good call on hate. I've consciously tried to cut down use of that word for that very reason.

    Fuck.

It really doesn't mean anything anymore. If we really want impact with a cuss word, we have to use c_unt.

Same thing with shit. Just doesn't carry either the meaning or the vulgarity it used to.
