I don't think Girardi's time in Florida was a disaster. Sure, he didn't get along well with the upper-management, but he got results from a young, inexpensive team. He's from the Yankees' dominant era in the late '90s, and will be welcomed back with open arms.

Willie Randolph has proven why it took him 982 interviews to land a job: He couldn't manage a Pony League team, never mind an MLB team.

Torre can't manage forever, which is about as long as it'll take for a decent-looking candidate to emerge.
