Putin stays quiet on Greenland and Panama Canal and we back off on the Ukraine.

Trump today....

on gas heaters:

"The heat is much better. It's a much better heat. As the expression goes, you don't itch."

Shower heads:

"It's called rain. It comes down from heaven. And they want to do no water comes out of the shower. It goes drip drip drip ... you can have all the water you want. It makes no difference."

They will not be able to hide him for the next four years, unfortunately.

I haven't posted here much at all since Nov. 5 because, more than anger, I'm still impossibly sad that our country chose this guy again. Every Trump flag, banner or car sticker I see just makes me so sad. That said, I think one thing we continue to lose sight on is it just doesn't matter what he says or does or intends or anything to the people who support him and showed up to vote for him where it absolutely mattered. This isn't a shot at you, Wicked. I know you didn't mean that they're trying to hide him. It just made me think of that idea, that he's going do or say something that will shock enough people, but I think it's more hope than reality. Sure, they won't be able to hide him for four years. It doesn't matter. They're not hiding anything. Why should they? This is who they are. The only people outraged are the people who hate Trump (me included), but outrage means nothing anymore. Not for this guy. They've won.

I had a FB friend post something to the effect of, "See? WE didn't storm the capitol today. That's how democracy works." And, well, so what? Good for you. Good for us. But there were no repercussions for the guy. He's back. Nothing happened to him. And his supporters think he "Fights Fights Fights!" Jan. 6 didn't matter. Less than four years later, it just didn't matter. Like Sandy Hook.

No minds are being changed just because one side thinks it holds true to some sort of some normal behavior and adheres to some sort of rules they think apply. And, yeah, those rules apply - to that side. But they - we - also didn't show up enough to vote for a black woman, so who really forked up here? It's our fault.

The people wanted him. Not enough people wanted her.* He's gotten away with everything his entire life. It will never, ever change. Everyone, please stop thinking it will, or that some particular moment or forkup will ever change that. It won't. And stop forgetting that people LIKE him. They like him a lot. Congresspeople are afraid for their jobs because of his popularity. Like it or not, there's a perverse power of the people to that. Yeah, it may be cultish. heck, I think it is cultish.

And it's worked. Twice.

(*I know, I know, we can litigate Biden staying in until he didn't, no primary, the media, whatever. But that really should not have mattered with this guy and the threats he poses. Everybody forked up.)

If events don't effect politics, then there is no politics. The idea that Trump is invulnerable to events applies to only one admittedly very large section of the public -- the Republican party. There are obviously voters who can and have changed their minds about Trump. The results prove that. When (no if needed here) he forks up in a way that affects people personally, minds will change again.

That orange mofo ran three times...never got the majority of the vote once, let alone the country. We must not overestimate his rancid popularity, even if the donkey party is even more hated.

The capacity to blame the predecessor for current problems is almost unlimited today, surpassed only by the ability to rationalize (well, it would have been so much WORSE if XXXXX had been elected)."
