Question on Dalhberg's AP piece ...

Tim Dahlberg has a piece on the AP wire about the Heisman.

    It includes this bit ...
Troy Smith of Ohio State will win the Heisman on Saturday. If that comes as any sort of surprise, then you might be one of those still thinking Michigan is playing for the national championship.
This vote has all the suspense of a U.S. Open without Tiger Woods.

    With or without?
I would guess a US Open with Tiger was what he meant to say because said tournament would be devoid of suspense because Tiger wins everything.
Or did he really mean without because if Tiger weren't in the US Open, nobody would care, thus no suspense?
Note -- Golf is not my strong suit. Am I missing something?

    Anybody? Help?

The U.S. Open was pretty suspenseful in June this year on the weekend after Tiger missed the cut.

Try "intrigue" instead and see if that works for you.

Shouldn't we, at this point, just start a running The AP sucks thread?

    June.
    Ah.
In the middle of the 10-month racing season. Now I see why I missed it. :)
