Manky, you backpedal any more and you're going to fall over backwards.

    Into Jeter's lap, no doubt.

Yes, they gave the Cy Young to Felix Hernandez after he earned it.

I like your new game, too. Did you know Jason Hammel is averaging 8 IP and 10 Ks per start? At least he is today. I'm ignoring the rest of his career. Maybe he's the best pitching in the AL.

    Sigh.

Can't imagine why he made this post. ::)

I admit when I'm wrong. No one has convinced me that Verlander is a better pitcher than Sabathia.

We have seen no evidence that you will admit when you are wrong, mostly because you are a troll who intentionally posts the most irrational shit you can come up with because it amuses you to attempt to stir shit up.

That, or you know about as much about baseball as my mother's dog and my mother's dog died more than 10 years ago.

Why have I read about 28 straight posts that have NOTHING to do with R.A. Dickey?

You meant that as a rhetorical question, right?

Sabathia is a future Hall of Famer, has won a Cy Young and always among the league leaders in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. And I'm irrational for calling him the best in the game? You must be insanely biassed against the Yankees.

I'm reading his book right now. So far pretty good.

His future Hall of Fame candidacy is irrelevant to a discussion of who the best pitcher is now.

Sabathia is 16th in the American League in ERA at 3.55, nearly a run higher than Verlander's 2.57 and more than a run higher than Chris Sale's league-leading 2.24. Sale doesn't have the track record, but Verlander does.

Wins are as much a product of the team as the pitcher. Strikeouts are a nice predictor of future performance, but they are not as good of a measure of production as ERA, which clearly shows that Sabathia is not the best pitcher in the AL and Verlander isn't the only one who belongs ahead of him on the list.
