They're an expansion team so I'll give them a free pass.

Shelby Ford is raking (.391 BA) for the Williamsport Crosscutters. The rest of the lineup, not so hot.

Erie may be a last-place team, but it does have a nice little park attached to its hockey rink (which is showing its age but is as loud a junior hockey rink as I have ever been in). And the ribs at Damon's there are pretty good too.

S'funny. Just before the trade deadline, the Phils sent Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and cash to Toms River, N.J., for a player to be named later. God, it sucks to be a Phillies phan.

Nobody's mentnioed the Altoona Curve yet.
Second best record in the Eastern League. 3.5 games out of first in the Southern Division.

Kind of strange the Pirates AA team in PA is doing the best of the three PA teams in the EL.
Erie is a Tigers farm team and sucking.
Harrisburg is a Nationals farm team and is only 6.5 games better than Erie.

Altoona's stadium is one of the best in the minors. First-rate, a miniaturized major league stadium. Can't say enough about it.

Meanwhile, Harrisburg limps along with its circa-1987 cookie-cutter structure.

P.S. Reading's in the EL, too.

That's because the Curve roster is filled with 30-somethings and non-prospects. The organization would rather have a "winning" minor league system than one that produces talent.

Whatever...Blair County Ballpark is still a great place to catch a game.

A Pirates fan's best hope is for Seven Springs (now owned by the Nuttings) to get the casino license that they've applied for, which would force them to sell the team.
