And the only reason we got into the abortion issue -- which I would be more than willing to take over to the thread about today's supreme court decision if everyone else would too -- is because Fenian challenged us to find ONE issue that Nancy Pelosi is out of touch with mainstream America and/or an extremist on and once we did and included her voting record he started doing the liberal tap dance and tried to muddy the waters by using all kinds of liberal code words to try and clarify (and cleanse) her more extreme positions.

But can we move this abortion debate to the abortion thread?

Saying Cheney and Bush have been lying gives the word lying grounds to sue for defamation of character.

No, a politician lie? Never. I can't imagine it. They are all such upstanding citizens.

    Right-wing religious kooks, both.

No, according to Fenian and his buddies, if they were truly right-wing religious kooks they would have used an assault weapon to shoot their kids, not drown them.

Did you read what I just posted?

    Americans don't agree on abortion.

There are two ends to the spectrum. On one end, you have those who think no one should ever have an abortion. And on the other, those who think everyone should have an abortion.

It's not Nancy Pelosi's fault no one is arguing the other end of the spectrum. That doesn't take her outside the mainstream. Neither does it make people like the WishList folks out of the mainstream, nor does it take the Democrats for Life out of the mainstream.

It baffles me that you can not see this.

And on this: "The majority Americans are for birth control. The majority of Americans are not for federally funding birth control. There is a huge difference."

You're wrong. Unless you're doing some kind of ridiculous parsing where a push-poller asked if people wanted to fund ALL birth control for ALL women, you're just flat wrong. I've never seen a poll that supports your contention.

You're a narrow-minded hate monger. That is all.

Nancy Pelosi's voting record on abortion is indeed extreme. There is no other way to argue it.

There is clearly a common ground which Americans have found on abortion, a sensible middle ground where people from both sides can live, which is why it is not nearly as much of a wedge issue as it once was.

Nancy Pelosi, much like Rick Santorum on the other side, are extremists who believe there shouldn't be a middle ground on the issue.

No, an extreme position on abortion is that no one should have one.

An extreme position on abortion is that everyone should have one, or even that everyone should have one after one or two or three children.

Just because no one in the United States is making the extreme argument on one end doesn't mean you get to shift the goalposts.
