Braves now more games out of first place than at any time since 1993.

    They are done.

Somewhere in a NY hotel tonight, Bobby Cox will utter the following...

    "Shit, it WAS Leo!"

    Wait and see ...
    Wait and see ...

    Consider:
    • On June 15, 2005, the Braves were 33-32, and 5.5 games out of first place, 4th place in the NL East. They came back to win the division by two games over the Phillies.
    • On June 27, 2004, the Braves were 35-39, and 4.5 games out of first place, 4th place in the NL East. They came back to win the division by 10 games over the Phillies.
    • On June 1, 2001, the Braves were 27-26, and 8 games out of first place. They came back to win the NL East (despite Glavine and Maddux being the only pitchers to win more than 7 games) by two games over the Phillies.
    • On July 8, 1993, the Braves were 48-38, and 9 games out of first place. They came back to win the NL West by one game over the Giants.
    • On July 7, 1991, the Braves were 39-40, and 9.5 games out of first place. They came back to win the NL West by one game over the Dodgers.

Don't write them off just yet. The Braves have performed this magic act before, and a lot deeper into the season than May 6. It's not over by any means. Wait and see ...

Leo's doing shit with the Orioles. It's the talent not the coach

    All these extremists....

It can be the talent AND the coach. It can be just the talent... often is. In rare instance, though, it can be simply the coach.

So you're saying they need to trade for Fred McGriff and work Pete Smith into the rotation.

all those facts and figures are nice about their second-half comebacks, but in retrospect, those braves teams had a bunch of good players not named langerhans, francouer, LaRoche, Sosa, Reitsma, orr, etc., etc.
They may not be totally done yet, but short of a seven or eight-game winning streak, it doesn't look promising for this braves team.
Francoeur has to be the biggest bust of the year so far.

  10. Unless the team is named the Kansas City Royals, I refuse to write off any team in the first week of May. Can't do it.
