If you check out the first pic of the accident, there's some guy wearing a Terrible Towel shirt talking to the cops. I don't know if I've ever seen a news report of more than two people in Pittsburgh without someone wearing Steelers gear (or a Mah-rio jersey).

I was arguing with co-workers tonight about whether it was lame to be holding court outside Mercy. They thought it was cool.

They also were glued to the set when the 10 p.m. news came on.

Only thing I can remember that's similiar to this was when Reggie Lewis dropped dead playing basketball, and even then it wasn't as excessive.

 

I have to wonder whether the fact that he's a white guy has an impact on how the media and the public responds.

I'd like to think that it has no bearing.
