Pitt and Rhody tipping off now on the U. Not that 99% of America even knows.

With Steelers on against Bengals tonight, 99 percent of Pittsburgh (outside of Oakland Zoo) might not know. Bad scheduling there by Pitt.

That's part of the Coaches vs. Cancer deal. Pretty much out of their hands.

For a rare time, I'm a proud member of the majority.

    WTF is BKC?

Pitt goes to what, 75-1, in nonconference games at their arena? Impressive home record. Rhody gave 'em a game, though.

Most media outlets have picked their preseason winners.

Oh, yeah, duh. You'd think I'd know that, what with once having been an AP BKC stringer!!!

I was thinking it was a hockey tournament. Especially since I've heard about nothing but football all weekend.

I love college hoops, and I had no idea the season was starting today until about 8 o'clock tonight. This prompted two questions: 1) Why is the season starting so early? I know opening games have been creeping earlier and earlier, but it wasn't that long ago that the first games of the season were around Thanksgiving; and 2) Why don't they -- whoever "they" are who run college basketball, which I guess means ESPN, essentially, because the NCAA wouldn't do it -- make opening day an event?

Agreed ... Hell, I remember not too long ago that Midnight Madness (the start of practices) was a big deal nationally, with ESPN doing a big production for it. I would have thought there'd be more fanfare.

The Panthers are allergic to Rhode Island. Two years, they walked into the Dunk #1 and walked out with an L. Last year, they needed a three at the buzzer at home to beat a horrendous Providence team. Last night, pressed to the wire by a URI squad whose roster has already taken a couple of preseason hits, backup center blew his ACL 90 seconds in and starting 7-footer limited to 19 minutes by foul trouble.
Although with the hits other top A-10 teams have already taken, URI could possibly steal the conference.
