Running 2025 golf thread

Congratulations! If this marriage is to work, be honest. Tell her you'd like to play at least one course on your honeymoon. I doubt she'll object. It's only one day.

Many thanks!

I'm OK not playing, to be honest. I'm much more interested in some long hikes in the Highlands. Now, a Scottish mini golf — if such a thing exists — would be a treat.

Congrats!! I'm fortunate that my wife understands that golf helps make me who I am (and I can expense golf with clients!) I did not play on my honeymoon (but I did play on my wedding day).

Enjoy your hikes!!

A sideline - I follow a woman on IG who lives in North Wales and the places she hikes, swims and camping stuff with her son and husband are wildly gorgeous. Scotland and Wales are on my to-visit list.

The reunification of the Tour and LIV is inevitable. And probably needed. The best players should play against each other.

I was as disappointed as anyone with the guys who left for the blood money. And I'll happily root against all of them. Some actual rivalries and real anger could make for better viewing. Goodness knows the PGAT needs an enthusiasm injection.

Jon Rahm was the biggest disappointment to me.

And Koepka only gave a ship about majors. His choice was one of the dumbest. He already earned generational wealth and was never going to be happy playing a second-tier tour that nobody watched or gave a crap about.

I was a Koepka fan before this. I'll be happy to root for him to fork up.

If the tours unite before the LIV players' contracts expire, I wonder if they would get to keep their bazillions or if the PIF says, "Ehhh, no. Poof."

I wonder if the PGA Tour isn't purposely dragging these negotiations out until some of LIV's bigger contracts expire and Rahm/Brooks/Cam Smith can just come back. I'm sure there will be some sort of token "penalty" involved, but they'll craft it to be easily surmountable for the bigger names. On the other hand, LIV's ham-and-eggers -- i.e., 90 percent of LIV's roster -- probably should start making plans for a Sunshine Tour career.

The PGA Tour had layoffs last week including some writers in their digital department. Shameful, but there's your private equity sharks at work. Though the ROI on $1.5 billion is gonna have to ride on more than cutting some worker bees.

LIV is going to have to lock up Bryson again. Rahm probably has 2-3 years to go on his contract. Koepka sure seems to miss his old Tour crew. But at this point I think a lot of fans have just thrown in the towel completely. They'll wake up for the four majors and the Ryder Cup.

Speaking of the Ryder Cup, given the current political climate, an event that was already going to be a shitshow is going to be completely off the rails.

No question. If it was starting tomorrow the U.S. homefield advantage would be muted, given all the bad publicity around player payments and obscene ticket prices. That has six months to settle down but yeah, the political climate isn't gonna get better.

Next time Tiger plays competitive golf will be on the Champions Tour in a cart.

He was never really going to be in the PGA Tour mix again after the car crash. Lucky he didn't lose a leg. Or worse.

There are 10-year NFL linemen that aren't as beat up as Tiger. He's now had both Achilles repaired, 17 years apart, among the litany of other surgeries.
