Maybe it's just me, but, boy, was that Gilbert and Sullivan production number freaking stupid.

To each his own, but I don't usually like those type of things, but I thought it was hilarious...

I like the casting across the board. Peet is taking a lot of flack, but I think she's good in that role. Not every strong woman is a raging bench and I think she plays it well.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

From the preview, it looks like Peet gets more to do next week.
However, if we don't actually get to see "Crazy Christians," somebody should call out Sorkin.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

Highest compliment I can pay S60 is the same thing I used to say during Wing's early years. When the commercial comes, I'm pissed. Loved the clock last nite (first, the whole 'how does it know?' thing, then Perry's looking at it right after the show starts and the countdown has begun again). Hughley was awesome. Perry was outstanding. Whitford was good. Not feeling Harry yet, but she's okay.

I used to watch CSI: Miami pretty much every week. May never watch it again, unless S60 isn't on.

I'm with you Mizzou.....I thought it was great, and a realistic way to "kick off" the new regime.

As for "Studio 60" luring viewers away from CSI Miami, it could be tough. People might be hesitant to start watching the show in 5-6 weeks when they realize it's a continous story line and don't want to be lost....plus they know Horatio will get the bad guy by 11pm, and "Miami never closes"....

How accurate are the Neilson ratings now? They don't take Tivo into account right?

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

Loved, loved, loved the production number.

But, love it or hate it -- and I can totally see how someone would hated it -- you have to admire the big brass ones it took to put in on.

And, as someone else mentioned, I wonder if they're going to have the stones to keep putting sketches on the air. Because with the talent on that show, and a much better writer than anyone at SNL right now, there is a serious chance that the skits will be funnier than SNL's. Which would be awfully embarassing for NBC.

Plus, it's more writing for Sorkin, who keeps reminding us he has a problem hitting deadlines.

Count me as one who enjoyed the song.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

The CBS Monday schedule has become what NBC's Thursday lineup was after Seinfeld ended and Friends and ER started declining: Most people watch it strictly out of habit, even though the quality of the shows is nowhere near what it once was.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

I'm waiting for TiVo to release its own set of ratings -- they have to have aggregate stats as to which shows are being recorded, which shows are Season Pass-ed by the most customers. Not sure why they wouldn't want to make that info public -- as long as it was released as general numbers spread over a customer base of millions, I doubt you'd see any kind of big-brother violation-of-privacy backlash. The ratings would be an easy way to brand TiVo as the DVR of record. And since it would use actual numbers instead of Nielsen's sampling, could argue it represents a more accurate representation of what people are watching (or at least what people who can afford TiVo are watching ) ...

Liked the song. My only question is - Why would you get the Los Angeles Light Opera Chorus" and then have them sing in unison?

I liked the second ep of Studio 60 more than the first. And this time no poor audio quality! :) (Although the song was a bit hard to make out)

Amanda Peet, though, still not doing it for me in this role. She has some great lines, though. A better actor (IMO) would pull it off better.

I like Steven Weber in his role. I think some mentioned they didn't see him working as that pain-in-the-butt boss, but I think he does a good job. Timothy Busfield is aces, too.

The potential from ep. 1 increased to ep. 2 ... no reason to stop tuning in. And I don't even like Matthew Perry (generally speaking; he's good on this show).

You always make your most improvement between the first and second show.
