Running video games (and consoles) thread

For those interested in such nerdy things as text-based sports simulations (which I assume should be many of you, if you're like me), the excellent Out of the Park Baseball '13 is on sale for $29.99 until tomorrow. Could get an SportsJournalists.com league going if enough people have it.

Ah, makes more sense now, Ky.
There may not even be a baseball game for the 360 next year. I believe EA said they had no interest in doing one.

LCJ, The SportsJournalists.com league would be cool to do with OOTP. I had been using Baseball Mogul for a few years, but decided to try OOTP this year. It's pretty good. Not sure how the online leagues work, but I'd be willing to give it a try.

BM and OOTP have been brought up before, but I don't remember how many people said they played.

BTW, I'll be getting NCAA 13 this week, more than likely. I'll let you know just how high the LBs do or do not jump in this one.

I just saw that in something I was reading. That should make my decision easier, I guess. I know 2K is done after this season, but hadn't heard EA wasn't interested in making a game next year. Who makes The Show? Wonder if they'll make a 360 version?

Yeah, I've never actually played an online OOTP league, but it seems like such a popular mode of play that it must be easy enough to figure out.

I'd be game for an online OOTP league - how does it work? Does it just simulate X amount of games per night? (That's how Baseball Mogul Online worked.)

Also, my next GameFly game is NCAA Football 13 for the PS3, so I should be able to give a mini-report on that by Friday. It's shipping today, so I'll probably get it Wednesday or Thursday.

I think I'd be up for the OOTP league as well.

Up to league, is my understanding. You can sim as little or as much on whatever schedule the owners agree on. Players d/l a league file from the league website, make changes, and then upload a file back to the commissioner that runs the sim. Looking at the manual, it seems like it'd be pretty helpful to have a commissioner that both has played in an online league and understand the web enough to create a website (although OOTP will generate most of the HTML files).

I'm going to start a new thread just in case people don't check in here.

Sony is the publisher. Sony San Diego is the developer. So not a snowball chance in heck.

Cool. Thanks. I'm going to the beach for six days so I won't have a chance to really play it until next week anyway. Definitely interested in hearing if it's worth the scratch to upgrade from '12.
