I'm not seeing your point. He gets on the radio, makes "offensive" comments (and he has) and then gets media attention for what he spouts. It's his shtick. It's a gimmick. It's a means of drawing attention to himself and the party. It's a small point, I suppose, but that's why he gets paid a lot of money.

Guys like Rush used to be confined to the corner of a bar where they could mumble to themselves and every so often go into a full out rant that embarrassed everyone in the place.

Now guys like him and Beck get a national audience. I'm not sure what's more pathetic: the fact they have a radio show or that there are people who swallow this swill.

I don't think he ever said that he didn't deserve his job or that he wasn't one of the 30 best QBs in the NFL. The only question was whether or not he was one of the very best and whether or not some in the media were putting him in that category because they wanted to see an African-American succeed in the role.

    It's human nature.

Clearly -- and admittedly -- many people wanted to see Obama win the Presidency because they thought it would be good for America, for African-Americans, and for breaking racial stereotypes and prejudices to have an African-American win.

Similarly, Rush was trying to say that some in the media were rooting for and/or promoting McNabb for similar reasons.

That's a side effect of all those drugs? Sucks to be him, I guess ...

Same could be said for liberal talk show hosts. Not that I'd expect you to say it.

The Mike Leach thread got locked after 520 posts.

    Can we go further?

Give it up, YF. Nobody's buying what you're selling. If that's all he meant, then he wouldn't have been pushed out of the Sunday Countdown gig. He had a long and sordid history of racist blasts when ESPN hired him, and they knew exactly what they were getting. They smartly pitched him overboard before he said something even worse.

Name me one liberal talk show host that makes any comments comparable to the sexist, homophobic and racist ones of Rush's. Name one.

So, you're saying that he behaved on ESPN just like he behaved prior to joining ESPN? And ESPN hired him knowing how he behaved -- in fact hired him based on his prior broadcasting resume?

And this got him fired? That doesn't make sense. Sounds like the person who hired him should have been fired too.

This might get locked before there's another update on his condition, which would probably be some sorta record.
