Your thoughts on the Maloof brothers garnering a patent for the name Orange County Royals, and attempting to move the Kings to the OC...http://bit.ly/e9dduY...

The Maloofs are very underrated in the pantheon of Douchebags Running A Team Into The Ground After Inheriting It From Daddy.

Sister Maloof probably drove the idea.

The Mighty Anaheim Kings of Los Angeles was taken?

They're like, oh, 99 and 44/100ths of sports owners in the U.S., wanting the fancy playpen and wanting someone else to pay for it. Good luck trying to draw vs. the Lakers and Clippers (at least until Blake Griffin goes free agent).

  5. I feel bad for the hardcore Kings fans in Sacramento, which are large in number but not enough to pay for a new arena it seems. If the Clippers have been an afterthought in SoCal since "Where's the beef," I doubt the Kings will have much success there.

The Clippers were an afterthought in L.A. before their first piece of forwarded mail arrived from San Diego.

And they're probably going to claim they're using the name "Royals" as a way to celebrate their past.

Oh yes. A past that has included using five previous cities as your home base (which included, for a brief time, Omaha) and hasn't won an NBA title since before Bobby Thomson hit a famous home run.

So the NBA will have 3 teams in LA, but the NFL has 0 teams in LA?

So, your saying the Royals should move to Jacksonville?

Ha! Sounds like another Rachel Phelps incident in the movie Major League!

Or how about staying in California, but not going to LA...like San Diego, where the fans have their own identity apart from LA.

They're also going to let Larry Ellison buy a team -- Hornets looking good on that -- and move them to San Jose (and eventually maybe build a new arena in San Francisco).

Add the whole Seattle fiasco, and that sure is a nice legacy David Stern is building for himself.
