That Barrow County grew to the point of needing a second high school is all the proof I need that way too damn many people are moving to Georgia.

Should be noted that the Celeryfeds were a minor-league baseball team that ceased after the '46 season, Ketterlinus was merged into St. Augustine High School decades ago and Hastings High School dropped the Spudsters moniker decades ago (they were the Tigers Wildcats before the school was closed due to lack of students).

You like digging up old stuff? :D

The Yankton, SD girls teams used to be the Lady Bucks. I think they've given the girls teams their own nicknames, now, though.

Greenwood, Ind., HS called its girls teams the Lady Woodmen.

As if there wasn't enough teen-aged snickering over a team showing up with "Woodmen" on its uniforms.

  12. Still more from Georgia that suddenly come to mind...

    Jackson-Atlanta (formerly Southside) Lasers
    LaGrange Grangers
    Long Co. Blue Tide
    Tattnall Co. Battle Creek Warriors
    Twiggs Co. Cobras
