Sean Taylor - RIP UPDATED

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Hustle, Nov 26, 2007.

  1. Damn.
No matter what his background, this is a sad story all the way around.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, especially his wife and young child.

I just told the producer of our morning show who asked if this was really a big deal. I said I thought it was, but I know she and the anchor (who knows nothing of sports) won't think it's as big of a deal.

She put it in the show, though, and I'm glad.

This is about the last thing the NFL needed from an image perspective. At least it's Goodell trying to stem the bad publicity instead of holier-than-thou Tagliabue.

    The shitstorm is just beginning.

And how the fuck do the Redskins prepare for Sunday? Seriously?

BYH: I see no way the Skins can prepare to play a game on Sunday, do you? How awful.

  6. I'm trying to think of a viable solution. I hope the NFL comes up with one to give his teammates who need it the proper time to grieve.

The NFL played thru Kennedy getting shot. The Redskins will play thru this. And with two games in five days (next Thursday as well). Holy smokes.

"Sean would have wanted us to play."
"We're going to play hard in Sean's honor."

We'll hear a lot of that over the next few days. They'll throw themselves into it as a way to deal with the grief.

  9. Yes, you are correct ... they will play Sunday. And for some players, it will probably be therapeutic. But, I know there are gonna be a handful of players on that team where, the last place they'll wanna be Sunday is a football field. For those players, I wish there was another option.
We lost a co-worker several years ago unexpectedly and it was so hard coming to work for a lot of us. We were given the option of taking a few days off. Many of us, including myself, continued working. But it was nice to have that option.

  10. I see from the WKI entry that his legal trouble involved a DUI and some sort of weird dispute over some ATV's.
How this translates into a possible home invasion and/or hit baffles me.

The only way it could be if the guys he had the dispute with over the vehicles were still bitter and this was a payback. This is a reach to say the least.

You can hope this will just end with a random home invasion gone wrong, but I think when this unfolds over the upcoming days and weeks there might be a few more suprises.

I assume they will play, too, but if anything the example with Kennedy would be a reason not to. I remember reading and hearing many times how Pete Rozell came to deeply regret playing games that weekend.
