Seeking freelancers for NE Georgia HS football

The Times in Gainesville, Ga. is looking for a freelancer to help cover the upcoming high school football season. What we need is help covering games on Friday nights, though other writing/reporting opportunities may arise.

We pay $40/story and demand quite a bit -- 450-600 word gamer, full AP-style box score, updates for our twitter feed after each score. The good news is we've got a fairly relaxed deadline compared to most (11:30 for copy), and we're happy to train the green who show promise.

We cover 20 schools stretching from Towns County to Buford and are willing to work with our stringers to keep them relatively close to home on assignments, if that kind of thing is important.

Newspaper experience is not required, but it definitely helps. Inexperienced applicants should be able to demonstrate deep football knowledge, especially of the local high school football scene, as well as natural writing ability.

If you're interested or if you've got questions, email me at bholloway@gainesvilletimes.com. If you've got samples, all the better. No phone calls, please. NOTE: This is not a test of your desire or ambition. Just don't call. Thanks.
