Seriously AP?

It's the Hobey Baker Award. :)

Really, I hope there's the same outrage when there's NO photos of the Tewaaraton Trophy winner next month. 'Cause it's just as solidly a niche sport, and AP almost completely ignores lacrosse.

It's lacrosse. Daddy will pay AP to send a photographer.

(I had to look it up.)

It's a minor squabble, but in next week's TV schedule, the Pacers are referred to as "Indianapolis" throughout the file -- just an FYI for those that use the wire's TV sked.

Not that it matters now.

Reminds me of the several emails I sent about a weekly TV sports guide that was a corporate mandate, even though they haven't sold an ad for it in months. Could one of the reasons be is the syndicator's copy listed NBA games as "Boston vs. Los Angeles" without saying if the Celtics were playing the Lakers or the Clippers?

Today's there's a story about Casey Martin qualifying for the U.S. Open, where he'll be allowed to use his cart. Gee, you would think there might be a photo around of Martin with the cart?

Good luck with that. In my experience dealing with national AP, the right hand and left hand don't communicate as often as one might expect.

Trust me, I know better. Just venting as usual. :D

Serious question: So is there an actual reason that AP posts cheerleader pics on the wire? Or is it just so Bleacher Report has something to "report" on?

I've seen some newspaper sites with NFL cheerleader slideshows. Or maybe they're taking care of the night deskers.

But what's worse, the cheerleader shots were among the best of the early offerings from the Chargers-Raiders game. And quite a few early photos from that game went out on the wire in such a way they couldn't be used.

From the AP story on Art Modell's funeral:

Lewis, Baltimore's second pick in the 1996 draft after Modell moved the franchise, gave a eulogy filled with emotion.

"Rest in peace 'Pop Art,"' he said.

Wow, very emotional.

Why does the AP send out extra-inning alerts for all baseball games...but they don't put out OT alerts for football? Just seems odd.

We get OT alerts. Usually on our Advisories wire, not sports. Why they come there I dunno, but doesn't matter since I get them on my auto FBN search.

I noticed in our new system we got the OT alerts today...but it didn't show on the old system...must be a bug or something.
