The only thing worse than a journo using a spokesperson is a news organization giving a "no comment" on anything.

May be the cynical me coming out, but her rep's statement read like a complete confession to me.

 

Years ago, an old stop often reported on major employers cutting jobs regularly.

This while the newspaper was cutting jobs regularly.

The publisher wrote in a piece that the newspaper was under no obligation to report on its job losses because it was a private business. Actually no; it was part of a chain that was traded, admittedly a penny stock by then. What hypocrisy.
