Six injured in shooting at Louisiana move theater; shooter kills self

We need a separate gun control thread, and a thread for baby killers too.

Outlawing partial-birth abortion? Extreme.
Perhaps but would need to be framed better.

Parental consent for teens? Extreme.
That to me depends on the age of the teen and if she was old enough to consent for sex.

Waiting periods? Extreme.
Adoption counseling? Extreme.
If I as a man wanted to have a medical procedure done, I'd only have to wait for the doctor to find time to do it. If iwas told to wait for an artificial reason or to get mandatory counseling, I'd throw a forking fit and rightly so. But a woman who wants an abortion, regardless of the reason, well she's not smart enough to understand the implications, etc.

Ultrasounds? Extreme -- unless necessary for less "crunchy" harvesting of valuable organs to be sold at profit.
Repeat a lie often enough and eventually the stupid will believe it to be true. Again, the unedited video is quite clear.

Admitting privileges at a local hospital for abortion doctors? Extreme.
A backdoor way of banning abortions and you know it, but, repeat it often and people will think what you want them to think

Abortion clinics held to the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers? Extreme.

Well, yes. An abortion is a pretty simple medical procedure, assuming nothing goes wrong. There's better ways of putting in requirements and having processes in place. Again, this is something people already know.

They regulate that industry so that they don't have rapists working as independent contractors and so that customers will have their medical bills paid for in case the independent contractor crashes the car.

Baron, while you're often wrong on both issues and facts, and your thinking is childlike in many instances, I've always thought you actually believed what you posted.

But, even you can't believe this is why the taxi industry is regulated in the manner it is.

If this were truly the case, anyone could simply go through a background check, and acquire proper insurance, and begin working as a taxi driver in NYC. But, that's not the case is it?

The regulations are a racket, designed to protect the 1 percenters, who own the medallions, and who donate to political campaigns.

The fact that 1 percenters take advantage of the actual drivers doesn't seem to bother politicians like the Myor of New York City, or a leading Democratic contender for President.

The barrier to entry for abortion clinics varies by state. I'd suspect that they are similar to barriers to open a doctor's office or a dentist's office. And those offices have less risk of mice running around instead of Mom & Pop's diner.

How about cats Baron?

Here's what Gosnell's office looked like:

The grand jury report is full of horrific and gruesome details about the clinic that Gosnell ran for more than three decades. Patients were neglected; providers were not certified; and cats were allowed to roam and defecate in the clinic.

"The walls appeared to be urine-splattered," the Philadelphia district attorney's office found when it inspected the clinic in August 2010, months after it had closed that February. "The procedure tables were old and one had a ripped plastic cover. Suction tubing, which was used for abortion procedures – and doubled as the only available suction source for resuscitation – was corroded.

And, despite complains and violations, how often did his clinic get inspected:

There were no inspections of the clinic over the next 16 years.

So, we can prevent a rapist from operating a taxi, but couldn't put this guy out of business?

Sure it is ... if the background check shows that you're willing and able to write a check for about a million bucks.

Not gonna argue for or against abortion here, but I can't remember the last time it killed 12 random people at a movie theater. Or 32 innocent, hard-working people at a public university.

Yeah, nothing to see here, just eugenecist Margaret Sanger's dream come true:

In 2012, black women in New York City aborted over 6,500 more children than they gave birth to. Data from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene shows that, among non-hispanic black women, there were 31,328 "induced terminations" to 24,758 live births, according to a CNS News report. In total, there were almost 74,000 abortions in New York in 2012, meaning that 42.4 percent of all abortions were of black children.

Gun nuts and their play toys are a much bigger threat to society as a whole.

Not saying I personally disagree, but for those who think abortion is murder, I'm pretty sure the death toll from abortion far exceeds deaths from gun violence.

The thread, of course, is about wacko shooters and public safety.

Dragging abortion and taxi medallions into it is just another threadjack for a personal political agenda.

I don't disagree. It's a red herring. Just responding to the point you were making.

Sure we could.

That would require regulation, and the tax money behind it to enforce those regulations and pay for those inspections. Guess who is against using tax money to enforce regulations and pay for those inspections?
