JR, HC, any chance for a tour of your place?

Those who have a shortage of imaginary ghosts will find all they need on the grounds of the old Toronto Hospital for the Insane at Kipling and Lakeshore. If the name sounds a little harsh, consider another one the place went under: The Mimico Lunatic Asylum.

;D
A sign of things to come ... JR took me there on our first date.  :D

Um, what happens in Mimico stays in Mimico.

My bad.  :-[

I'm all about hitting a dance club. The singing bit -- not so much. But if we go I WILL bring my camera. :)

From the PMs I've received, it seems like multiple sportschicks have the same question...

What's the dress code for this shindig?

I can figure out what to wear to the Blue Jays game, though I can't remember the last time I was at baseball and not in the press box. ;)  But how dressed up would we have to get for a bar vs. a dance club (er, I only meant a bar with a dance floor in it!) or for any of the suggested restaurants?

Are we talkin' Birks with socks?  (Miss ya, Moddy!  ;D)  I'd like to pack before the last minute. And, well... The Boy might need a little help too.

I don't do gussied.

I'll pack jeans, my gauchos, and maybe a pair of shorts. A couple tops. That's it. If we start talking black-tie dress, I'm forked. And I'll stay in and watch TV.

I am going casual, golf shirts and khaki shorts.
If that doesn't cut it for the dance club, oh well.

This is a casual outing folks.

I'm packing Shorts, jeans sandals, running shoes, my Hawiaan beach shirts, a couple of T's and some polos.

Perfectly OK attire for any place we're going and since I'm a little too old for dance clubs I have no idea what the young people wear to those, although when my eldest hits the clubs he tends to dress prep casual.

Most of the clubs in the entertainment district have a dress code, whether it is posted or not.

If you guys are serious about going to a proper club let me know the date and I will have us put on a guest list. I can probably get the cover waived, but dress code will be to the nines.

Here are some places outside the entertainment district that would probably be better:

If you want more of a "Repo Man" type club, I would suggest the Dance Cave. It's grimy and not pretentious at all - $6 cover:

If you want more of a "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" type club, I would suggest El Convento Rico. It's super fun, not pretentious, very Latin with disco thrown in. Also on the weekends they have a drag show which is very entertaining -- usually $5 cover.

If you want more of a "Quadrophenia" experience, the Mod Club is the place for you. It's not a shorts and flip-flops place though (cover varies but is usually $10-15 before 11pm).

Also if you are looking for Karaoke but are afraid of singing in front of a bar packed with drunken hecklers, I would suggest Clinton's. They have private karaoke rooms for large groups, but it can be a bit pricey because they charge by the hour. They do bring booze up to your room though.

I, personally, would prefer a bar. Just...a bar. Not a techno-pounding, gyrating 18-year-olds dance club, not a Copacabana type place. A place with stools, tables, beer and snacks. Where we can hang out without having to scream over the latest J.Lo. remix.

Well, there's no lack of those around the hotel.

And, given my age, I'm with you.

A place with pool tables would be ok as well.

Oh, I'm COMPLETELY down for taking your money in a game of pool. :)

If BYH was coming, we'd have to find a place with air hockey. He LOVES playing air hockey against girls. ;)
