The Sun in Baltimore is looking for creative and energetic copy editors who want to be part of a team that strives to produce one of the best sports sections of its size in the country.

Ideal candidates would have: excellent editing and headline writing skills; strong news judgment and an ability to handle and update multiple files nightly; proven ability to meet deadlines and work quickly and accurately; and ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.

If interested, apply to Sports Copy Chief Andy Knobel (andy.knobel@baltsun.com, 410-332-6659). Address: 501 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD 21278

Excellent AME/Sports there...Tim Wheatley, formerly of Indianapolis.

The leadership here is fine, but let's just say that an incoming copy editor would have a chance to shine in an uninspiring editing environment.

Lots of plural words going on here. Was there a mass exodus or did corporate folks open up the purse strings for the holidays?

It's Tribune, so I doubt the purse strings have opened a lot.

  7. Andy, This is an intriguing post. Just wondering what level of experience you're looking for. Are these entry-level spots or open to experienced hands? Can't believe you won't get a lot of response either way, just looking for some guidance.

If nothing else -- the six-person enterprise team should make things pretty interesting. My guess is that planning has to be big there.
