    Company: The Sandusky Register
    Position:
    Sports paginator/writer
    Location:
    Sandusky, Ohio
    Job Status: Full-time
    Salary: Negotiable

    Description:

The Sandusky Register, an award-winning, 20,000-circulation daily on the shores of Lake Erie, is looking for a sports reporter with a passion for producing local copy. Page design is required, but this position will mostly require someone with enthusiasm, energy, a good sense of humor and the ability to report and write a range of sports stories. We have high expectations in our newsroom, and the right candidate will be a person who is a self-starter and has the ability to produce local copy for a variety of platforms, is creative with their writing and presentation, and committed to serving our community.

Can you paginate with InDesign? Write a solid game story, and come up with weekly feature stories? Handle a variety of tasks while working 40 hours a week? If so, we want to talk to you.

We cover 18 schools and 19 sports during the year, and our programs are among the state's finest. We are also home to a NASCAR Truck Series championship-winning team. A vacation destination, Sandusky is home to the best amusement park in the country, one of the top water parks, and a short boat ride from the Lake Erie Islands. The cost of living here is fair, and our lakefront is less than an hour from Cleveland and Toledo.

A candidate with knowledge of the area or local ties is preferred, but not required. At least one year of journalism experience is preferred, but any candidate with a proven ability in reporting, writing and organizational skills will be considered. If you think you've got what it takes, we want to hear from you.

Send cover letter, resume and five best clips by June 7 to Sandusky Register, Mark Hazelwood, Sports Editor, 314 W. Market St., Sandusky, OH 44870 or e-mail hazelwood@sanduskyregister.com. No phone calls please.
