The News-Messenger has an immediate opening for a full-time Sports Reporter in the Editorial Department.

Candidates must have at least one to two years newsroom sports reporting experience, a college journalism degree and experience paginating.

This position provides sports coverage of stories -- preps and youth/adult rec sports -- within the newspaper’s circulation area in an ethical manner as directed by an editor.

This process will involve collecting information, interviewing individuals and writing stories for print and online.

The ideal candidate will be able to produce stories focused on reader interests in a quick manner, develop and maintain a working list of stories and contacts, and have a strong sense of urgency.

In addition, the ideal candidate must have experience designing and paginating sports pages, either using Quark XPress or InDesign.
