russell's way worked to the tune of $200,000. how much did boston rob win in three tries following his strategy?

Well, he did win a million ....

Ok, his wife did but that's not the point.

Also, he's parlayed it into a pretty solid career. As someone said above, he and Amber made somewhere north of $2 million last year alone.

and i'm guessing russell shows up on "amazing race" or something. he has a chance to make his money ala romber-post survivor. and he has a $200,000 head start on boston boob.

Russell and his ego would make for a pretty potent - if fatally flawed - team.

If Elizabeth Hasselbeck has had the most successful post-Survivor run of all the contestants, I would say the "Romber" combination is second.

They made $2 million in 2009, a year when neither one of them was on any shows (at least that I know of) and a good 5-6 years after they peaked. I've read they got $500K for each Amazing Race appearance and a couple million to have their wedding televised. I'm guessing he got six figures to return to Survivor for a third time. I'd bet he was the highest paid of those returning. They both still make a fortune in appearances. I read an article last year where Rob made some comment about being paid $25K to sign autographs at a Target opening.

Russell will have a nice run on whatever he decides to do. He's certainly famous enough now that people will still be talking about him five years from now.

My favorite moment, in hindsight, was when Boston Rob wrote Russell's name down and said "Welcome to the big leagues."

Russell then proceeded to dismantle Rob's entire alliance minus one (who ended up winning).

I love it when egos get checked.

Another interesting note about Rob and Amber.

Neither was on the initial all-star roster. They had two former winners (Vecepia and somebody who won a season I didn't watch) who were supposed to play and Probst recommended replacing Vecepia with Rob and I don't know who replaced the other one. The other guy was taken off because he had been caught doing something in the porn industry and the show didn't want anything to do with him.

Amber was the final addition after Johnny Fairplay was pulled because Rupert said the only way he would do all-stars is if Fairplay was taken off.

Several people have pointed out that Russell knew on the last episode that he had lost his previous season. ... That had to have been faked. That "interview" wasn't in among the trees or on the beach like most of them were. It was against a beautiful view of the island, as if they were on a mountain. It looked like a green screen or a backdrop in a studio. Parvati also had an interview like that, and while I hadn't ever watched for that kind of easily faked setup before, I don't ever remember seeing it before.

They must have gotten a few of the people back together to fake some interviews and fill in some holes after they reviewed what all tape they had from the actual island. Also, they benefited from Russell commenting on the previous season because it just seemed weird that he hadn't to that point, unless you knew that through the magic of TV land he really didn't know yet.

I thought the same thing. Definitely added later.

Next season proposal: Team Rob vs. Team Russell.

Each serves as a captain for a tribe and after watching a "tryout" challenge, they would pick from the castaways for their respective teams.

They influence their tribes during the show in any way they sit fit as far as voting, challenges, etc. They are involved in the game and can participate during challenges, but would be competing for a separate monetary prize than the regular castaways. Neither can be voted out during tribals and are not allowed to vote.

A member of each tribe is voted off during every tribal council, down to the final 2 (one from each tribe).

America decides the winner for the Million bucks. Whichever team that player hailed from, captain would win the cash.

It will be interesting to see what Survivor does to find a way to get both players into another season. I'm guessing they want Richard Hatch to play again as well.
