Sweet Jesus, I Hate The Democratic Party

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Fenian_Bastard, Aug 4, 2007.

  1. This would be better snark if you'd spelled "intelligent" correctly.
Otherwise, I feel your pain, even if it doesn't sound like any press box I've ever been in.
And, since 70 percent of the country thinks this president is, at best, a boob, I'd say your colleagues are fairly deep in the mainstream.

As every Democrat knows since "potatoe," the key to successful political discourse is 100 on the spelling test.

I'm not talking about beat writers, and I'm not in sports or journalism - I write as a fan, though my colleagues are indeed fairly deep in the mainstream as well.

And while I actually think proper spelling is important, I think I lose the points in a category other than snark, no?

  4. I said the snark would have been better, which is not to say it wasn't good.
I'm still getting my mind around Dr. Z as Howard Zinn. Did W stumble through the press box one day and mess up his charts?

I find the same thing about many of my favorite people here too. I hang out here despite the politics talk, not for it.

  6. I'm telling you, W spilled beer on Dr. Z's "leftfooted punters hang time when the temperature's under 40 degrees" chart, and there's been hell to pay ever since.

More likely the "time-sheet for anthem renderings". That's of historical value.

  9. If you've never been in a press box next to Dr. Z when he starts spreading out his data, you've missed something in this biz.
And jmac's correct -- he actually does chart the length of the anthems.

But we know that one survived.

Oh, never been next to him in the press box.

BUT ... while working as the beat writer for the Lowell Spinners (Red Sox short-season A team) at my previous shop, longtime Red Sox minor league manager, scout and current player developement consultant Dick Berardino would always pull out the stop watch and time the anthem singers. The best was on nights when Dick and former Red Sox beat writer Joe Murphy were in the press box at Spinners games for a rehab assignment story. The three of us would have non-stop laughter all night.
