Terrelle Pryor, four teammates suspended first five games of 2011

Has the Sweater Vest made any comment yet?

The first five games of 2011 include a road game at The U and home for Michigan State. So the penalty might have some teeth.

The NCAA is a joke. Let the kids play against Arkansas, but sit against Akron. That sends a stern message. IMO, this is nothing compared to the Cam Newton bullshirt. These kids should get a game each. And it shouldn't have waited until now. It should have been a while ago. What took so long?

They essentially waited too long and all of these guys will be in the NFL without having to sit out any games. Does the NCAA every give out actual punishments? Jesus.

What if their fathers sold the rings without their knowledge?

I have no problem with what they did. Cam Newton is eligible and these guys are suspended for essentially half the season? Unbelievable.

The reasoning the NCAA comes up with to explain its obvious hypocrisy is some of the greatest creative writing in the world today. I bet even that bunch of humorless SOBs gets a chuckle when crafting statements like the "education" excuse.

You know what else sucks, these guys just sold their rings and jerseys and now they have to repay the money. They don't even get the stuff back. Nice way to kick the student athletes in the balls.

As the board's avowed Buckeye Fanboi, quite the "aw fork" moment. Having said that, they broke the rule, they'll pay the price. Unfortunately, so will the rest of the team. Don't want to hear (from the typical Buckeye fan) any Cam Newton BS, etc.

Frankly, there's a part of me that....in my heart of hearts.....that KNEW Pryor would eventually fork up. I love the kid's talent, but I've always felt like he was a ticking fork up bomb....just waiting to go off.

Pryor isn't ready for the NFL, doesn't mean he won't go. I can see him pouting off into the sunset. Posey (who's never been as good as he thought he was...) was already gone. Herron won't go....but Tosu is loaded at TB. Adams may be the most under rated loss of the group (even just for 5 games). Big kid, FINALLY starting to get his sh*t together.

Those that stay will miss 2 cupcakes, Colorado, @ Miami & Michigan State. Eligible to come back for the game at Nebraska. I'm seeing a very disappointing 2011 in my future.

I'm sure the ring fetched pennies compared to what Pryor has already gotten.

That said, this will end Pryor's college career and assuming he was planning on staying another year, sucks...

Good to know that your father selling you to a school is still acceptable, but selling something that was given to you is not.

I hope they do, if for no other reason, than to escape the NCAA's bullshirt.

Their offenses are so serious, yet they can still play in the Sugar Bowl? This wouldn't have anything to do with the bowl being worth big bucks, now would it?

And the rings are a reward for winning their conference. Why shouldn't they be able to sell them? It was given to them.

Without stating it, there's some sense to be made of the plan (agree with it, or not). Making them sit out of the bowl, screws the entire team, in particular the seniors. Making them sit out next year, while impacting the team by their absence, makes it less of a "full team" punishment. IMO, of course.

Mizzou, Pryor had already announced he was coming back (for what that's worth).

I always have the same question about these "so-and-so will be required to repay X amount to charity" sanctions, though: where does a student-athlete who sold his bowl ring because his momma needed the money come up with between $1,000 and $2,500 that has to be repaid?
Well, since Pryor and Co. will be playing in the Sugar Bowl, they'll ostensibly be given rings. Maybe they could sell those?

As the resident Michigan fan boi, I don't that your team got a fair shake on this. Again, Terelle Pryor is dumb as nails and should probably just be suspended for a game for the dumb shirt he says - but 5 games for this? I'm sorry, the NCAA needs to be more consistent with its suspensions need to start immediately.

Trust me, those guys will take more shirt from OSU football alums for selling their gold pants than they will from any other corner.
